A Conversation with Neil Binder, Principal of The Bellmarc Companies

How did you get into real estate?

There was no plan. I was working for the accounting firm Arthur Andersen as a staff accountant and started seeking a new opportunity. My girlfriend at the time introduced me to someone who hired me to help put together real estate partnerships.

How did that lead to forming Bellmarc?

I had spent a couple of years working on residential real estate deals and felt like I wanted to begin doing my own thing. I met my partner Marc Broxmeyer at a luncheon and we hit it off.

Marc had experience in running residential buildings. He knew the practical side of the business. I was a good technical and financial guy. We both saw that our respective skills were complementary, so we shook hands. Marc and I never signed a written agreement until maybe 10 years later.
